san fernando crossing chevy chase is the very southern border of glendale with LA... that's right along the train tracks and the LA river... it's more LA than glendale and the crap from LA likes to spill over to the other side of the tracks...

that's an industrial center, not just for glendale but LA... there are strip clubs and warehouses across the tracks... duh that it's a sketchy area...

get east or north or the galleria and it's all much more peaceful suburban streets... just don't over-generalize the city...

if you're looking for the negative it's what you'll find... the same holds true for the positive... have you looked for the positive lately?

as far as the papers go, you have to read the local paper to see police blotter listings... it's still there... but you have to go to a couple of rare spots that vend the local paper or buy a copy of the local times that carries it as an insert for papers sold via newspaper boxes in glendale...

glendale's crime new is just not going to pop up in the daily news or the la times... they've got the whole la basin to cover and little crime snippets don't make headlines... every city has them... even shootings... sad but true... when there are as many people packed together as in the city, it's natural mathematical odds that some of them aren't going to play nicely with one another...

            anyhoo...

things'll sort out for you veganbombshell... hey, even if glendale's rough, we love you with dear friendly affection all the same veebee!

            peace everyone...

I love Glendale because it was the last place I lived in California 14 years ago and I rather enjoyed many things about it. I loved Brand Blvd. and the Galleria there though I am not much into malls but if you have to go out shopping that part of Glendale is really nice. I just have fond memories is all. I just to live at the Dude Ranch - an apartment complex on Paula Ave. right under the five freeway where tenants could keep horses out back.

I don't know what it is but when i was back there this summer, I took a drive through my old nieghborhood again and thought it looked pretty good. I thought of all the places to live in L.A. that might be somewhat reasonable and central, Glendale came to mind as a place I might want to move back to. What is the rent like there these days and is it hard to find a place with a dog that isn't too shabby or in a bad area?

I also liked Montrose, right above Glendale and lived there too. I liked all the mountains back there and LaCanada and stuff.

Other things I loved about it is that it is close enough to Silverlake and all those areas - well, relatively anyway, right? I want to continue to hone my skills as a video editor and web designer and I heard Burbank is a good place for freelancers in that area.

Well anyway, say hello to Glendale for me. It was nice to have a place to come and let out all that nostalgia.

I can't remember the street it was on (verdugo?) but do they still have a cuban restaurant around the border of Burbank? that was the best cuban food ever.
