Tue, September 14, 2004 - 6:57 PMAny recommendations for:
Sushi/Japanese
Indian
?
"La Cabanita" on Verdugo (near Montrose) is amazing Mexican food. I'd say the closest thing to gormet Mexican there is... Highly recommended!
Also "Cinnabar" on S. Brand is interesting. Their appetizers are unique and tasty Pan-Asian and they have a nifty vintage Cocktail menu... -

Wed, September 15, 2004 - 2:43 AMSushi recomendation:
I know these aren't exactly in gledale but very close.
Toku on foothill blvd in la cresenta/la canada. Go up ocean view turn left and it's on the right side. Tell them Mike Wong sent you, they might hook you up. (old school friend from cal lutrheran.
Ichiban is excellent, try the white tuna. This one is la canada 711 foothill blvd. Get crowded at night so go early.
Torien in tujunga, very small place on foothill as well, great baked clams.
My favorite food is japanese food, I've eaten at many places and these are the best in my opion, they won't disappoint. -
-
Re: Favorite Eateries
Wed, September 15, 2004 - 2:06 PMI used to live in Tujunga a few moons ago... I liked Ichiban, never tried Toku and used to be a regular at ToriYen. The waitress, I forget her name, was always a trip, "Excuse you", "Me wash dishes now", "Gucamole!" She tricked me into wearing dicknose glasses for a picture on my birthday... Their posters were fun too "Sushi? In Tujunga?" lol
I guess it's time to make a sushi trek up into the foothills...

Thu, September 23, 2004 - 7:45 PMOoh, La Cabanita with those homemade tortillas. Excellent place.
I really like Gaucho's Village, the Brazilian churrascaria on Brand, especially on Fridays and Saturdays when the scantily clad woman dances around.

Sun, October 3, 2004 - 9:45 AMGourmet 88 (south of the mall on the West side of Brand)
Try the garlic flavored scallops and the kung pao san yan. Always the best!
Oh, and who could forget Zankou Chicken?? Love that Garlic Sauce! -

Re: Favorite Eateries
Sun, October 3, 2004 - 7:15 PMMy mother was in town over the weekend, and we went to the Panda Inn. We were quite floored with the fish in black bean sauce and the Chinese long beans.
Zankou has no rivals whatsoever.
I really like Cafe Bravo on Glenoaks and... Sonora too, though. -
-
Re: Favorite Eateries
Tue, October 5, 2004 - 9:48 PMCafe Bravo IS good... I haven't been in since they remodeled... Mikko Tappan on Stocker/Central is good fun too

Re: Favorite Eateries
Sun, October 10, 2004 - 8:59 AMNever been to Panda Inn... have you been to Gourmet 88, and can you give the comparison? -
-
Re: Favorite Eateries
Mon, October 11, 2004 - 6:51 PMYes, I've been to the Gourmet 88 in Burbank, anyway.
I'd say they were pretty comparable. That particular day, we ordered exactly the right things: the fish with black bean sauce and the long beans with jalapenos, and I think maybe we ordered two of the best items on the the menu. So I guess after ordering those two items, I'd have to say I like Panda Inn a little more, at least until I find the "magic" items Gourmet 88 does well too. -

Re: Favorite Eateries
Sun, June 12, 2005 - 11:37 AMSince, as omnivores, we humans, do not have a sacculated or a ruminating stomach to extract maximum nutrients from vegetables like true herbivores do, vegan must mean someone who is not receiving sufficient nutrients to maintain normal brain activity.
For that reason it does matter where vegans eat. -

Re: Favorite Eateries
Tue, July 19, 2005 - 4:28 PMMocking my post, how clever....
I'm so waiting to hear another disaffected suburban brat rant by you, on how you're too cool for Glendale and there's not sufficient eating establishments for Vegans, which is me me me, all about me.
I'm waiting for you to, once again, make your brilliant observation that all Glendale residents are daft and obtuse.
How amazing you are that you can see through all the arcadian lives we Glendalians live, and rise so far above it, and all of us.
Or - do you actually have something new and interesting to add to this thread, which incidentally is not about bashing Glendale and our collective intelligence quotient. -
-
Re: Favorite Eateries
Wed, July 20, 2005 - 2:54 PMNo disaffected suburban brat rant by me, today. But I did just move here for school, and I would like to know where I can find some decent vegan food, even if the restaurant I'm sitting in doesn't happen to be all vegan all the time. And for the record, I just had my blood work done, and it seems that there are plenty of nutrients for my brain and the rest of me circulating around in there.
(Ok, just moved here is a little strong. I sign my lease tomorrow, and everything I own will get here sometime next month.) -
